Have you tried turning it off and on again? /slapped/ no but really, someone's had luck with restarting their computer (they were using paint tool sai v.2)

PLEASE NOTE:

This is specifically to do with wacom based tablets. Also, this journal is old, links are broken and may not be found again. My apologies.

I am not an professional in the ways of I.T or Cintiq problems. These are only the solutions I and other people have found, and they get pasted here.
if the solutions don't work for you, I'm sorry but I will not be able to help you with other things - I'm just not the expert in this. However, this journal occasionally gets updated with new solutions. Please check back if after many weeks you haven't found a solution to your problem.

this is a problem that was hard to explain. Basically people have called it

-cursor won't align correctly
-cursor doesn't want to follow the stylus
-brush is x amount of distance from where the pen actually is
-extended monitor issues etc.

There have been some fixes that have worked for some, including editing the misc.config/ misc.ini file which you can find info on here:

helpfulharrie.tumblr.com/post/…

I tried updating drivers, re-installing tablet drivers, re-installing paint tool sai and in all different types of combinations.

some people even just blamed software and hardware and suggested switching to other programs (which obviously, is such a piss poor "solution")

in any case, none of the aforementioned worked for me. But the following did >:C and I hope it can help anyone else.

1. right-click paint too sai desktop icon
2. select compatibility tab
3a. check the checkbox for 'run this program in compatibility mode'
3b. select your operating system (windows 8 or 10)
4. under the setings of compatibility tab, also check the box that says 'Disable display scaling on high DPI settings'.
Apply and close.

*Note* if you aren't able to access administrator, you can follow aaemilia's helpful tip:
When you go into Paint Tool Sai properties, click on "Change settings for all users" (you might need to type in a password) and THEN check "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings." Press OK and you're good to go!

If that still doesn't work, you can try a solution found by Deuronius

1. Launch "Tablet Preference File Utility" in your Start Menu.
   (Ex: [Start]->[Programs]->[Wacom Tablet]->[Tablet Preference File Utility])
2. Push [Remove All Preference Files] button on [Tablet Preference File Utility] dialog.
You can find this solve on the official site: www.systemax.jp/en/sai/faq_tab…

If you are getting the following error: Avoid Old Wacom Bug

:bulletred: go into your SAI folder, click the misc.ini file, and CTRL-F search for "AvoidOldWacomBug". Set the 0 to 1. Save it, open SAI, and it should work.

-more detailed instructions:

 Open Paint Tool SAI directory;
- search the misc.ini file , open this file it with Notepad;
- search for AvoidOldWacomBug = 0;
- change it to : AvoidOldWacomBug = 1.

If that still doesn't work, you can try a solution found by MaikoBoo

-right click your desktop
-under the multiple displays dropdown, select 'duplicate' displays.
-apply & okay.
-restart if necessary.

If that still doesn't work, you can try a solution found by jadewinged

-open sai
-click others > options
-under 'coordinate mode', ensure 'pen' is selected instead of 'mouse.'

Another solution thanks to pastyllia for mentioning it and to DrawPlzForum for finding the solutions and posting them in the forum

1. Right click on PTSAI -> Properties -> Compatibility
2. There should be an option along the lines of "deactivate scaling with high DPI value" or "deactivate scaling for more than 300 DPI". Check the box next to it.
3. Click "Okay" to close the properties menu and start up SAI again to test if it works.
  "Sai does not respect dual monitors 50.50..."
AND

Step one: Open the Screen Resolution window.
Step two: Click "Make text and other items large or smaller"; Example
Step three: Change the setting to "smallest"; Example

  "This only changed the scaling on my Cintiq, and it only changed it for the programs, not everything else that was already scaled properly. This also somehow fixed the calibration issue I had in SAI. It is now working as one would expect. I have yet to test it long-term, but I was able to do a very quick sketch with no issues."

This solution link mentioned by jani-lee comes from reddit: It's intended for clip studio paint, but has worked on paint tool sai also.

This is what my screen resolution settings look like:

1. Cintiq is the bottom display (you can click and drag where the screen is in relation to your main)
2. Cintiq is NOT the main display.

Another solution thanks to Conej0s

"The following is a solution that works for a combination of Windows 10 and the Cintiq 22HD:

Go to the start menu, and search "Change Display Settings". Click the first result.

A window will open. Make sure that your scaling is at 100%. The default resolution for a Cintiq 22HD is 1920x1080- SAI doesn't like this; change the resolution to 1680x1050 in the drop down menu. A window will ask you if you want to keep this change- say yes.

SAI and the tablet should now work in conjunction as they should, pressure, alignment and all."

Another solution thanks to Catchovie

While in SAI2 > Help > Options > Check 'Use TabletPC API instead of WinTab API (Vista or Later)' and Restart SAI2

======================

Lastly, if you're still having problems,

are you using a legitimate version of Sai? Or have you downloaded a cracked version? I'm not the piracy police, but a fellow has pointed out that their problems went away when they purchased the version from the software developer. Please consider supporting people who worked hard to bring us amazing software and tools to help create our art.

EDIT! APPARENTLY THIS ALSO WORKS WITH CLIP STUDIO PAINT AS POINTED OUT BY Antiqueteacup =3=

If you're having problems with CSP, try this solution suggested by Pearl-Nachtnebel
